Mörkö Engineering’s approach for algorithm aided structural engineering:
Case: Biomass boiler building steel frame
|
|
|
We are enthusiastic about being able to serve our clients better in their concurrent engineering projects with faster iteration and the ability to find the best possible structural system, that will satisfy the ever-changing requirements of a challenging multi-disciplinary engineering project.
To achieve this, we are continuously developing our own approach, and software, for algorithm aided structural engineering and parametric models. The software is not for sale: it only exists to help us help our clients as an Engineering Company.
On this page, we illustrate strengths of the approach in case of a biomass boiler building steel frame pre-engineering project for the energy industry.

Biomass boiler building steel frame: Pre-Engineering

With Teräs-Pertti, geometry of a parametric model can be adjusted to match the project-specific dimensions.

Platform beams and service platforms can be edited in a batch or individually, allowing for better mass-customization capabilities in Teräs-Pertti.

Pirkko-Statics is a highly effective 2D-analysis tool for pre-design of seismic and non-seismic concentrally braced frames.
2D-analysis and specialized tools give us an extraordinary ability to go through numerous iterations and truly search for optimal structural system in pre-engineering phase of a project, rather than just building one large FE-model in 3D for verification of one design.
Later in basic engineering phase, we naturally prefer 3D-analysis with 3rd party tools such as Autodesk Robot for more comprehensive verification of the chosen structural system.

Our tools for rapid pre-design and documentation of the most time-sensitive connection details from pre-engineering point of view also go under the label of Pirkko-Statics.
